Typically Meets in: Pittsburgh Region

The Millvle Walkability Project is an Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh Initiative to build grassroots visibility and advocacy for pedestrian mobility and safety with neighborhood partners.

Lively Pittsburgh is seeking Millvale residents, community members, and organizations to participate in The Walkability Project to make the streets safer and more accessible for people of all ages, including:

  1. Gathering to discuss the project and street safety concerns
  2. Walking to map street conditions using pathVu's mobile technology
  3. Hosting a public meeting to review the findings
  4. Raising awareness through a pop-up demonstration called The Crossings
  5. Advocacy for high priority changes with local stakeholders

Southwestern Pennsylvania Partnership for Aging (SWPPA) and Lively Pittsburgh, two leading organizations in the Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh initiative, have secured funding from the PA Developmental Disabilities Council and the Mary Hillman Jennings Foundation to partner with Pittsburgh-based company pathVu to launch The Walkability Project, which supports people of all ages and abilities to create pathways for safer streets in three neighborhoods: Beechview, Millvale, and Wilkinsburg.

Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh is a collaborative initiative which brings people of all ages together to rethink how our neighborhoods are built and to take action to make them more inclusive and respectful of every generation. For more information please contact Laura Poskin:
