The Next lecture in the Mind Matters series “Exercise is Medicine” will be presented by Daniel G. Drury, Ph.D., Gettysburg College. Exercise, in and of itself, can have a profound effect on different aspects of health that rivals many prescription medications. Everyone knows that exercise is good for managing your weight. However, few realize that exercise can help prevent diabetes, control high blood pressure, decrease cancer risk, lower cholesterol and improve mental health (….and much, much more). Daily exercise can have a more profound effect on your health than your physician’s prescription pad.
WITF, Central Pennsylvania’s affiliate for PBS and NPR, is offering an exciting initiative for Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA) Senior Community Centers and Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) to offer highly engaging educational programming. The project, called Mind Matters, delivers a monthly series of intellectually stimulating lectures by knowledgeable presenters on topics of most interest to older adults.
Join us for a lecture followed by Q&A. This is showing locally at both Vintage and the JCC at 5738 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217 (Squirrel Hill)
